In sommige omgevingen kan het nodig zijn om meerdere seriële links te bundelen om als één link met geaggregeerde bandbreedte te fungeren. Dit document beschrijft hoe u Cisco 4500-routers kunt configureren om vier seriële interfaces te bundelen met behulp van een virtuele-sjabloon-interface.
Deze configuratie kan worden gebruikt voor routers die zijn aangesloten via huurlijnen of routers die de Kanaalservice-eenheid/datacommunicatie (CSU/DSU) hebben. U kunt naar wens extra functies aan deze configuratie toevoegen.
Er zijn geen specifieke vereisten van toepassing op dit document.

PPP multilink in elk van de seriële interfaces waarin de bundeling moet worden uitgevoerd.
Een RIP als IP het routingprotocol
Interface loopback 0 is geconfigureerd zodat het nooit mislukt, en ip ongenummerde loopback 0 versterkt de bundeling van meer dan vijf seriële interfaces met hetzelfde IP-adres.
Wanneer alle seriële interfaces omhoog zijn, en het gebruikersverkeer moet worden verstuurd, creëert multilink PPP een virtuele-toegangsinterface en vindt de PPP-onderhandeling plaats. De configuratie van deze virtuele toegangsinterface wordt vanaf de virtuele sjabloon gekloond. Het aantal seriële interfaces dat omhoog gaat wordt gebundeld in deze virtuele-toegangsinterface en er wordt een totale bandbreedte gecreëerd.
