Le pont envoie des paquets de pont au demi-pont PPP qui les convertit en paquets routés et les transfère à d’autres processus de routeur. De même, le semi-pont PPP convertit les paquets routés en paquets de pont Ethernet et les envoie au pont sur le même sous-réseau Ethernet.
Remarque : cette configuration ne couvre pas un pont complet des deux côtés. Pour une telle configuration, reportez-vous au document Pontage sur RNIS.
Sachez que le pontage sur une connexion RNIS tend à maintenir la connexion active pendant de très longues périodes, voire de manière permanente. Si la compagnie de téléphone facture une connexion RNIS en fonction du temps de connexion, cela peut entraîner une facture très importante. Par conséquent, ce scénario est recommandé pour ceux qui disposent de lignes RNIS à usage illimité.
Remarque : Une interface ne peut pas fonctionner à la fois comme pont intermédiaire et comme pont. La plate-forme logicielle Cisco IOS ne prend pas en charge plus d’un demi-pont PPP par sous-réseau Ethernet.

Vénus
Ce routeur est configuré en tant que pont complet avec routage IP désactivé. Le périphérique compose le numéro lorsqu'un trafic ponté arrive.
Saturne
Ce routeur a été configuré en tant que pont intermédiaire. Notez que les commandes dialer string, dialer group et dialer list ne sont pas configurées de ce côté. Ainsi, ce routeur ne composera jamais de numéro, mais acceptera les appels entrants. Cela empêche le routeur de composer le numéro du routeur distant. Nous avons activé le routage IP ici. Le logiciel de pontage complet n'est pas configuré sur ce routeur. PPP half bridge est exécuté sur l’interface BRI, de sorte que les commandes show bridge et show spanning-tree ne produisent aucune sortie sur ce routeur.

debug isdn q931 : fournit des informations sur la configuration et le retrait des connexions réseau RNIS (couche 3) entre le routeur local (côté utilisateur) et le réseau.
debug isdn q921 : affiche les procédures d'accès de couche liaison de données (couche 2) qui se déroulent au niveau du routeur sur le canal D (LAPD) de son interface RNIS.
debug ppp negotiation - effectue la négociation des options PPP et des paramètres NCP (Network Control Protocol).
