What's New in Release 17.15.1
This table lists the new and modified features in Unified Industrial Wireless (UIW) release 17.15.1:
Feature Name |
Description |
---|---|
4.9 GHz Support for Japan (-Q domain) |
This feature supports a 4.9 GHz frequency band in URWB mode for the -Q (Japan) domain. The APs can use a 20 MHz channel bandwidth on channels 184 (4920 MHz), 188 (4940 MHz), 192 (4960 MHz), and 196 (4980 MHz). For more information, see the chapter Configuring and Validating Radio Channel and Bandwidth. |
Additional Country Support |
From this release, the Cisco Catalyst IW9167E AP supports the following additional countries in the -ROW domain. Colombia, Mongolia, Brazil, China, Ecuador, Egypt, Iraq, Malaysia, Singapore Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Mexico, Thailand, Chile, Taiwan, Republic of China, and United Arab Emirates. The following additional countries are supported in the Cisco Catalyst IW9165E and IW9165D APs in the -ROW domain. Argentina, China, Colombia, Ecuador, Hong Kong, Oman, Egypt, Malaysia, Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. For more information, see the chapters Configuring, Supporting the Fixed Domains and Country Codes (ROW). |
Enable or Disable SSH and Web UI Access |
This feature allows you to enable or disable SSH and web UI access. For more information, see the chapter Enable or Disable SSH and Web UI Access. |
FIPS Certification |
This feature enables FIPS mode on the AP, where the AP enforces a FIPS complaint configuration. For more information, see the chapter FIPS Certification. |
Flexibility in URL Cluster Setting for IW Products |
This feature allows you to manually select a preferred IoT Operations Dashboard cluster: Auto, EU, or US. Previously, the AP automatically redirected the IoT Operations Dashboard cluster URL to either the US or EU cluster based on geolocation. For more information, see the chapter IoT Operations Dashboard Cluster. |
IPv6 Support |
This feature allows you to enable and configure the IPv6 address on the AP. For more information, see the chapter IPv6 Support. |
Packet Retries Limitation |
This feature allows you to set the retry limit for retransmissions of unicast packets. For more information, see the chapter Configure and Verify Roaming Parameters. |
Show Command for Individual Antenna RSSI |
This release introduces show dot11Radio wifistats rssi command to view the signal strength of antennas. You can view RSSI values of each antenna to identify possible issues with individual antennas or RF cables, which helps in troubleshooting and maintenance. For more information, see the topic Validating URWB Individual Antenna RSSI. |
Support for 15dBi Antennas |
This enhancement supports a new antenna gain value of 15 dBi for the radio. For more information, see the topics Configuring Antenna Gain and Configuring Radio Mode from GUI. |
This Release Note primarily provides information about the URWB mode of operation. For more details about Workgroup Bridge (WGB), check the Release Notes for Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controller, Cisco IOS XE 17.15.x.

Caveats
Caveats describe unexpected behaviour in Cisco releases in a product. Caveats that are listed as Open in a prior release is carried forward to the next release as either Open or Resolved.
Cisco Bug Search Tool
The Cisco Bug Search Tool allows partners and customers to search for software bugs based on product, release, and keyword, and aggregates key data such as bug details, product, and version. The BST is designed to improve the effectiveness in network risk management and device troubleshooting. The tool has a provision to filter bugs based on credentials to provide external and internal bug views for the search input. To view the details of a caveat, click the corresponding identifier.
Open Caveats
To know more information about the open caveats, see Cisco Bug Search Tool for Open Caveats.
You can view the list of open caveats using the filter options in the tool.
Resolved Caveats
To know more information about the resolved caveats, see Cisco Bug Search Tool for Resolved Caveats.
You can view the list of resolved caveats using the filter options in the tool.
