This document describes how to create a self-signed certificate to the list of root trusted certificates on the server.
Before you create the certificate, make sure that you complete steps 1, 2, and 3 in the Server Tasks To Complete Immediately section of Post-installation Server Tasks.
This document is not restricted to specific software and hardware versions.
Refer to Cisco Technical Tips Conventions for more information on document conventions.
Step 4 of Server Tasks To Complete Immediately explains how to set up the self-signed certificate in the server. These steps guide you through how to access the Cisco Security Manager server via HTTPS through the self-signed certificate.
A Security Alert dialog box appears and prompts you to accept, reject, or validate the self-signed certificate. This dialog box appears each time you connect to the server.
Click Yes in order to accept the self-signed certificate for that particular session.
In order to avoid this prompt each time you connect to Cisco Security Manager via HTTPS, click View Certificate instead of Yes.
A new window appears that displays "Issued to" = "issued by". This means it is a self-signed certificate.
Click Install Certificate in order to install the self-signed certificate and no longer be prompted when you connect to Cisco Security Manager.
Note: The installation of the self-signed certificate eliminates the prompt by the Security Alert dialog box. The addition of a self-signed certificate to the list of root trusted certificates is optional.
