Introduction
This document describes how to bring up the interface from the power saving mode on the ASR 9000 line card A99-32X100GE-X-SE.
Prerequisites
Requirements
Cisco recommends that you have knowledge of these topics:
- Power consumption optimization on ASR 9000 line card
- Power saving mode configuration on ASR 9000 line card
Components Used
The information in this document is based on these software and hardware versions:
- ASR9000 Router Line Card - A99-32X100GE-X-SE
- Cisco IOS® XR release 7.7.X or earlier
The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, ensure that you understand the potential impact of any command.
Problem
When you remove the power saving mode configuration for a slice on the line card A99-32X100GE-X-SE, unlike other types of line cards, the corresponding physical interface(s) and optic(s) can go down regardless of the layer one connection.
The Syslog messages for it are similar to:
RP/0/RP0/CPU0:May 31 10:00:41.518 CEST: psm[451]: %PLATFORM-APM-6-INFO : 0/1 slice 3 power On completed
LC/0/1/CPU0:May 31 10:00:55.041 CEST: ifmgr[297]: %PKT_INFRA-LINK-5-CHANGED : Interface Optics0/1/0/12, changed state to Down
LC/0/1/CPU0:May 31 10:00:57.025 CEST: ifmgr[297]: %PKT_INFRA-LINK-5-CHANGED : Interface HundredGigE0/1/0/12, changed state to Administratively Down
If you verify the port status via the command show controllers np all loc 0/1/CPU0
, the slice or Network Processor (NP) is missing.

Solution
Reloading the line card can recover the interface(s) on this slice or NP in such situations.
In the later release with the fix of Cisco bug ID CSCwb93350, the line card reload is no longer required.
