Customers that are running Microsoft Edge Webview2 Runtime version 121.0.2277.83 may encounter a crash when launching Cisco Jabber for Windows Release 14.2(0). This crash will cause the Cisco Jabber for Windows client to terminate immediately upon launch, and a "Report a problem" dialog box will appear.
Cisco Jabber Engineering identified an issue with the Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF) within Cisco Jabber for Windows Release 14.2(0) and its integration with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Edge Webview2 Runtime version 121.0.2277.83.
Cisco Jabber for Windows Release 14.2(0) crashes immediately at launch, and the following screen appears:
Solution
Upgrade to Cisco Jabber for Windows Release 14.3(0). Alternately, downgrade to any supported Cisco Jabber for Windows release earlier than Release 14.2(0), including the following software trains: 12.9(X), 14.0(X), and 14.1(X).
Note: As of February 17, 2024, updating Microsoft Edge Webview2 Runtime to version 121.0.2277.128 will enable Cisco Jabber for Windows 14.2(0) to launch successfully on Windows 10 and Windows 11 machines.
Windows 10 or Windows 11 machines that are running Cisco Jabber for Windows Release 14.2(0) and Microsoft Edge versions 121.0.2277.83 are affected.
