CSCwf85943 | Duvel ports might be link down with nxos64-cs.10.2.3.F.bin |
Some Cisco Nexus 9364D-GX2A Switches that are running Cisco NX-OS Software images from the 10.2(x) train may fail to bring link up on some front panel ports.
This issue affects only Cisco N9K-C9364D-GX2A switch models and 400/100-Gbps front-panel interfaces (Ethernet 1/1-64). Management port and 1/10-Gbps SFP+ ports (Ethernet1/65-66) are not affected.
Cisco NX-OS Software images in the 10.2(x) train have older ASIC firmware that might cause link down issues on some ports. Images in the 10.3, 10.4, and later trains of Cisco NX-OS Software have the upgraded firmware with the fix for this issue.
Front panel ports on Cisco Nexus 9000 N9K-C9364D-GX2A switch models show the Link not connected status even when the Layer 1 cable, small form factor pluggables (SFPs), and neighbor ports are functioning correctly, as shown in the following example:
Eth1/13 106 eth access down Link not connected auto(D) --
Eth1/14 107 eth access down Link not connected auto(D) --
The port numbers shown above are only for example. It can be any front panel port from the Ethernet1/1-64 range.
Workaround
There is no workaround available for this issue.
Solution
To fix the issue that is described in this field notice, upgrade software to Cisco NX-OS Software release trains 10.3(x), 10.4(x) or later from Cisco Nexus 9000 Series Switches.
Cisco Nexus C9364D-GX2A switch models are supported starting with Cisco NX-OS Release 10.2(3)F.
To identify whether a port is affected by this issue, log in to the Cisco Nexus C9364D-GX2A switch and take the following steps:
1. Verify hardware model and Cisco NXOS Software release number. Only Cisco Nexus C9364D-GX2A switches that are running Cisco NXOS releases from 10.2(x) train are affected by this issue, as shown in the example output below:
N9K# show version | section Software|Hardware
Cisco Nexus Operating System (NX-OS) Software
Software
NXOS: version 10.2(3) [Feature Release] <<< affected release 10.2(3)F

Hardware
cisco Nexus9000 C9364D-GX2A Chassis <<< affected HW - Nexus C9364D-GX2A switch
2. Check whether a port is in a link down state even if there are no issues with physical connections such as connecting cable, SFPs, and neighbor ports. The following example shows a device on which ports 13 and 14 are affected by this issue:
