CSCwa11191 | DBS 2020.08: Oracle 12.2 going EoS in March 2022 |
Cisco BroadWorks Release Independent (RI) Database Server (DBS) 2020.08 runs Oracle 12.2.0.1. This Oracle version will go end-of-support in March 2022.
RI DBS 2020.08 is an intermediate release that allows upgrade from BroadWorks DBS Release 21 or 22. After the upgrade to RI DBS 2020.08, an upgrade to the latest RI DBS release (which runs Oracle 19) is possible.
Customers should not plan to stay on the RI DBS 2020.08 release for a long time. Instead, customers should plan to upgrade to the latest RI DBS release.
Note: The latest RI DBS release (with Oracle 19) requires the Linux 7 operating system (OS). Therefore, all customers must go through an OS re-install from Linux 6 to Linux 7 before they upgrade to the latest RI DBS release.
The RI DBS software packages a version of Oracle Database:
Oracle 11.2 does not support an upgrade directly to Oracle 19. Therefore, customers cannot upgrade directly from BroadWorks DBS Release 21 or 22 to RI DBS Release 2020.11 or later.
Instead, a transitional upgrade to RI DBS Release 2020.08 is required. RI DBS Release 2020.08 packages Oracle 12.2, which supports an upgrade directly to Oracle 19. However, Oracle 12.2 is a short-term Oracle version with no long-term support. Oracle 12.2 goes end-of-support at the end of March 2022.
