CSCvo08396 | CTC/TL1 blank inventory for few ONS-SI-100-FX on NCS2015-ECU and SM pluggable Support |
Some ONS-SI-100-FX small form-factor pluggable (SFP) devices in NCS2015-ECU do not show inventory details such as hardware (HW) part number, product ID, Common Language Equipment Identification (CLEI), and so on. The issue is present on both Cisco Transport Controller (CTC) and Transaction Language 1 (TL1).
A limited number of SFPs have been upgraded for 8472 compliance. For these SFPs, Cisco-specific data has been moved to a new register address of the EEPROM.
When an 8472-compliant SFP is inserted in an External Connection Unit (ECU) SFP port, the Inventory shows blank values for Cisco-specific data because the ECU EEPROM read-code reads only from the old register address of the EEPROM.
However, when an 8472-compliant SFP is inserted on a Transport Network Controller (TNC) SFP port or other ports, the Inventory values are visible.
TL1 output
The TL1 output shows no details for CLEI, Product ID (PID), and Version ID (VID), as shown in this example:
1. telnet nodeip 2361
2. act-user::::otbu+1;
3. RTRV-INV::all:9;
"PPM-1-18-2,FE-1310nm::PN=,HWREV=01,FWREV=\"N/A\",SN=OPMxxxxxxxx,CLEI=,PID=,VID=,"

CTC output in the Inventory tab
The CTC Inventory output shows no details for HW Part #, CLEI Code, Product ID, and Version ID, as shown in this example:
This issue does not impact functionality. The EEPROM/Inventory data is blank when an affected SFP is inserted into ECU ports of an NCS2K M15 chassis while running a software release earlier than 11.0.
We recommend that customers upgrade to release 11.0 or later in order to avoid this issue.
The affected SFPs have a serial number that begins with "OPM" or "ACW" (for example, OPMxxxxxxxx or ACWxxxxxx).
In order to confirm whether your SFP is affected, you can use the CLI command ecuSfpDumpManufData <portno>
(where <portno>
is a port number in the range 1 to 5) to dump the EEPROM data from an SFP device. Affected units will show blank values for Cisco PN, CLIE Code, Product ID, and Version ID.
Example:
-> ecuSfpDumpManufData 2 ----ECU SFP Optics 2 Manufacture Data ----- SFP Type: FE-1310nm Cisco PN: Revision #: 01 CLIE Code: Serial #: OPM2xxxxxxxx Vendor ID: 3 Product ID: Version ID: Wavelength: 1310.00 Tolerance: 0.00 Rate Reach: OC192(0x0), OC48(0x0), OC12(0x0), OC3(0x0), GE(0x2000000000) FC(0x0)
