CSCvo65492 | /var consumes excessive disk space and Prime Infrastructure goes down -- /var/log/secure file |
Prime Infrastructure releases earlier than 3.6 can experience a system reboot or shutdown, which causes a loss of service to the customer.
System log messages can grow in size, which causes the /var file system to become full. This results in any of these customer impacting scenarios:
The customer experiences a loss of service of the Prime Infrastructure application.
The customer is asked to upgrade to Prime Infrastructure 3.6 or later. In order to prevent a failed upgrade and a nonoperational system, customers should check the size of the /var filesystem before they perform the upgrade. Customers can contact Cisco Services to validate the /var filesystem size.
In the interim, customers can contact the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) in order to clean up the /var directory and install a log rotate program to maintain the /var directory.
The current software version can be found via the CLI or the Prime Infrastructure web interface.
CLI
From the CLI, enter the show version command.
