CSCvm94301 | N9K-C9348GC-FXP has no console access after software upgrade or CLI reload |
CSCvn26568 | Update BIOS and EPLD for ACI Leaf |
The N9K-C9348GC-FXP switch might fail to boot after a reload or disruptive software upgrade. The console will be unresponsive and all LEDs will be off, except for the Power LEDs.
This condition can only be triggered during a reload (not a hard power cycle) and does not impact a switch that is up and running. This is triggered by a firmware bug in the power supply unit (PSU) timing sequence and is addressed by an electronic programmable logic device (EPLD) software update.
The console will be unresponsive.
In order to recover the system, complete one of these options:
The fix is to upgrade the EPLD of the system to the EPLD packaged with NX-OS release 7.0(3)I7(5a), 9.2(2), or later.
Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI)
The fix is to upgrade the ACI version to 3.2(5x), 4.1(1x) , or later.
Upgrade the Software
The fix for this issue is available as an EPLD firmware upgrade. An upgrade to the NX-OS alone is not sufficient. Cisco recommends for the customer to upgrade the NX-OS code and then upgrade the EPLD version.
See Recommended Cisco NX-OS Release for Cisco Nexus 9000 Series Switches and EPLD Installation Procedure for more information.
For ACI, EPLD upgrades are automatically completed with the ACI version upgrade.
This affects N9K-C9348GC-FXP with IO FPGA less than 0x08.
