CSCvj89868 | ASR1001-X systems version V04 or above require minimum ROMMON level, to support bootflash |
A downgrade of the ROM monitor (ROMMON) on an ASR1001-X router with System Version V04 or later to a ROMMON version earlier than Version 16.2(1r) causes a ROMMON “media drive bootflash: not present” error.
ASR-1001-X routers with System Version V03 or earlier do NOT have this minimum ROMMON requirement and are NOT impacted by this field notice.
This is a proactive field notice as shipments of ASR1001-X routers with System Version V04 are expected to begin around October 01, 2018.
Due to a Cisco supplier discontinuing a component, Cisco will use a new component which requires a new ROMMON version. If a customer tries to downgrade the ROMMON to a version earlier than 16.2(1r) on ASR1001-X routers with System Version V04 or later it might result in a ROMMON “media drive bootflash: not present” error.

Customers are advised to NOT downgrade the ROMMON to a version earlier than Version 16.2(1r) on an ASR1001-X with System Version V04 or later.
In order to determine the ROMMON version that runs on the device, enter one of these commands:
