CSCvc16495 | Power supplies showing "ps fail" when they function fine |
On the 1000 Series Aggregation Services Router (ASR 1000) chassis, the Power Supply Unit (PSU) state is incorrectly displayed with the show command on certain releases of Cisco IOS® XE. See the Products Affected section for release information.
After system bootup, the PSU state can be viewed with the show platform or show facility-alarm status commands. On the ASR 1000 chassis that uses the affected Cisco IOS XE images (see the Products Affected section), the PSU state might be incorrectly displayed as “ps fail” even though the PSU functions as intended.
The output of the show platform and show facility-alarm status commands lists one or more PSUs in a failed state, even though the power supplies work as intended.

Solution
It is not required to create a Return Material Authorization (RMA) for the PSU. In order to fix this issue, the customer is advised to upgrade to either of these images:
Workaround
Customers can also verify the PSU status with the show environment all command.
