CSCvd45973 | Catalyst 3850/3650 - memory leak in platform_mgr process |
Catalyst 3850/3650 switches that run Polaris Software Version 16.3.3 or earlier might exhibit a memory leakage issue which indicates an increase of memory usage by platform_mgr process.
The memory leakage observed in the buffer is related to a specific queue that does not get free after the message is sent to Cisco IOS®.
One of these messages will be displayed in the logs:
%PLATFORM-4-ELEMENT_WARNING:Switch 1 R0/0: smand: 1/RP/0: Used Memory value 91% exceeds warning level 90%
or
%PLATFORM-3-ELEMENT_CRITICAL:Switch 1 R0/0: smand: 1/RP/0: Used Memory value 96% exceeds critical level 95%
Workaround:
In order to purge the allocated memory reload of the affected switch, enter the reload slot# command as below:
3850#reload slot#
<1-9> Slot number of RP or line card
Solution:
In order to fix the issue, upgrade the switch to Polaris Software Version 16.3.5b or later.
