Catalyst C3850 and Catalyst C3650 switches might report unexpected high CPU usage despite any changes made to the configuration or network traffic inbound or outbound to the switch.
One or more cores of the CPU might exhibit high usage due to one of these processes/threads:
This high CPU condition is typically seen on Catalyst C3850 and Catalyst C3650 switches that have long runtime (several months).
The output for these commands will show one or more cores with CPU utilization at 90% or higher consistently.
If the switch shows high CPU usage, take the necessary steps as mentioned in this table.
