CSCuv32204 | SNMPd Memory Leak in libport_mgr_common |
The Cisco Nexus 55xx, 56xx, and 600x Series Switches that run certain NX-OS System Software versions can encounter a reset in the Simple Network Management Protocol daemon (SNMPd) process when the process reaches the memory threshold.
The memory that is held by the SNMPd process under the libport_mgr_common module increases over time if the SNMP applications continuously send SNMPget requests on the entSensorThresholdSeverity [1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.91.1.2.1.1.2] object. If the memory utilization of the libport_mgr_common module reaches 250 MB, the SNMPd process restarts.
You can enter this command in order to monitor the current memory utilization of the libport_mgr_common module:
esc-6004-A# show system internal snmp mem-stats detail | grep libport 102 [r-xp]/isan/plugin/0/isan/lib/libport_m 509002 509003 253991998 253992437 esc-6004-A#
This issue is applicable to the Nexus switch platforms that are listed in the Products Affected section of this document that run these versions of the NX-OS System Software:
Note: The Cisco Nexus 55xx, 56xx, and 600x Series Switch platforms that run NX-OS System Software Versions 7.0(x) and earlier are not affected.
If the libport_mgr_common module memory utilization reaches 250 MB, the switch encounters a reset in the SNMPd process:

In order to resolve this issue, use SNMPwalk instead of SNMPget when you poll for the entSensorThresholdSeverity [1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.91.1.2.1.1.2] object. Alternatively, you can upgrade the NX-OS System Software to one of these versions:
Use the following command to verify the Switch software level:
switch# show version | egrep system #system: version 7.1(1)N1(1) [build 7.1(1)N1(1)] switch#
