CSCvf34445 | There were no defects filed with this field notice at the time of publication. |
The current hardware versions of NCS4K-RP do not support Alternate Mark Inversion (AMI) mode for Building Integrated Timing Supply (BITS), a feature not widely used.
NCS4K-RP with Revision F0 and earlier and NCS4K-RP++= with Revision E0 and earlier do not support AMI mode for BITS. BITS interfaces in E1 and T1 are not functional when configured in the AMI mode of operation. The NCS4K-RP with Revision G0 and NCS4K-RP++= with Revision F0 has been designed in order to accommodate this functionality.
Loss of frame is seen on BITS port in AMI mode for T1/J1.
Customers are advised to check if the AMI mode for BITS is being used in their network (it is not widely used).
For customers that do not use AMI mode for BITS, no action is required.
For customers that use AMI mode for BITS and see the issue as described in this field notice, open a return request and Cisco will provide a replacement. For assistance, call the Technical Assistance Center (TAC).
The affected units can be identified by the top assembly number (TAN) number 800-39505-04 or 800-43091-04 as shown in the picture, and also must match the serial numbers listed in the Cisco Serial Number Validation Tool.
