Products Affected MDS NX-OS - 4.1(1a)
In some cases we have observed that a save configuration operation done from Fabric Manager (FM) when running NX-OS 4.1.1a may not complete properly and could result in configuration being lost.
This problem affects the following software files:
m9200-ek9-kickstart-mz.4.1.1a.bin
m9200-ek9-mz.4.1.1a.bin
m9000-ek9-ssi-mz.4.1.1a.bin
m9100-s2ek9-kickstart-mz.4.1.1a.bin
m9100-s2ek9-mz.4.1.1a.bin
m9200-s2ek9-kickstart-mz.4.1.1a.bin
m9200-s2ek9-mz.4.1.1a.bin
m9500-sf2ek9-kickstart-mz.4.1.1a.bin
m9500-sf2ek9-mz.4.1.1a.bin
m9000-cd-4.1.1a.zip
m9000-fm-update-4.1.1a.jar
This problem was identified in internal testing and is documented in CSCsu88430.
In some cases when issuing a
copy running-config start-up
orinstall all
command from FM to switches running NX-OS 4.1.1a, it is possible that the command will not finish and the configuration will not be written properly. When the switch is subsequently reloaded, there is no configuration and the system will stop booting at theloader>
prompt.
It is recommended that customers upgrade to 4.1.1b or later. The NX-OS 4.1.1b software was made available late on Sunday, October 12, 2008.
If you must run NX-OS 4.1.1a, it is recommended that you not use FM in order to minimize the possibility of exposing yourself to this issue.
