The documentation set for this product strives to use bias-free language. For the purposes of this documentation set, bias-free is defined as language that does not imply discrimination based on age, disability, gender, racial identity, ethnic identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and intersectionality. Exceptions may be present in the documentation due to language that is hardcoded in the user interfaces of the product software, language used based on RFP documentation, or language that is used by a referenced third-party product. This article describes the configuration of Client , Layer 2 Tunnelling Protocol Access Concentrator (LAC) and Layer 2 Tunnelling Protocol Network Server (LNS) that helps to bring up a Multilink Point-to-Point Protocol (MLPPP) session between Client and LNS built over a Virtual Private Dial-up Network (VPDN) tunnel.
Cisco recommends that you meet these requirements before you attempt this configuration:
This document is not restricted to specific software and hardware versions.
The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.
Note: Use the Command Lookup Tool (registered customers only) in order to obtain more information on the commands used in this section.
Note: In the case of PPP control packet exchanges during PPP or Multilink PPP session initiation time, the Multilink PPP session is negotiated between the CPE and the LNS, not with the LAC. The LAC does not have the knowledge about the Multilink PPP session. As a result, when the CPE initiates a PPP-LCP session, the Multilink (Maximum Receive Reconstructed Unit [MRRU]) negotiation included as part of the LCP negotiation may fail if the LAC has not yet established the connection with the LNS (which is typically the case). When the IP reachability between the LAC and the LNS is established, the LNS can renegotiate Multilink (MRRU) LCP options with the CPE, and the two peer devices can then establish an end-to-end Multilink PPP session.
