Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of life dates for the Cisco IOS Hybrid Software Release 12.2SX. Cisco will not have any Cisco IOS Hybrid development after 12.2SX release train, so the dates specified in this announcement would also be the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for entire Cisco IOS Hybrid. The last day to order the Cisco IOS Hybrid Software Release 12.2SX is January 29, 2008. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) as shown in Table 1 of the EoL bulletin. The Cisco IOS Hybrid is loaded on the Multilayer Switch Feature Card (MSFC) or Route Processor (RP) to provide Layer 3 routing functionality on the Catalyst 6500 switch. This software works only in conjunction with the Catalyst OS software loaded on the Switch Processor (SP). Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco IOS Hybrid Software Release 12.2SX. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement.
Cisco IOS Native images, including Cisco IOS Software Modularity images, bundle both the Switch Processor and Route Processor software. Customers are encouraged to migrate to Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(18)SXF or later for the Catalyst 6500 series switch which offers additional hardware and software functionality. Information about the replacement product can be found at
