® announces a change in product part numbers for ordering the Cisco CRS-1 Carrier Router System Multichassis System. This is a product part number change only announcement. Customers will experience no change in functionality when using the new product IDs. The new product IDs are designed to simplify the customer ordering process. The last day to order the affected product using the current product IDs is January 31, 2008. Customers will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until otherwise specified in the end-of-life announcement for the new product ID(s). Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected product. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement.
Cisco is moving to a flexible ordering structure to allow for the expanded capacity of the CRS-1 multichassis systems. All future orders for the Cisco CRS-1 Carrier Routing System multichassis system should use the new product identification numbers. The new multichassis product identification numbers include the following: CRS-MC-FC24, CRS-16-LCC/M=, CRS-FC24=, and CRS-16-MC-CONV=. No announcement is being made for end-of-life dates for the hardware or software products in this bulletin. Only the top-level product identifiers used for ordering a CRS-1 multichassis system are being modified.

Product Migration Options
The CRS-1 fabric chassis 24-slot system (CRS-FC24=) replaces the Cisco CRS-1 fabric card chassis for a multishelf system, CRS-FCC/M1(=) and CRS-FCC/M2(=). CRS-FC24= provides identical hardware. The CRS-1 multichassis system with a 24-slot fabric chassis (CRS-MC-FC24) replaces the Cisco CRS-1 Multishelf System (CRS-1/M-F1) for a multichassis system comprising two line-card chassis plus one fabric-card chassis. Additionally, the CRS-1 multichassis system with 24-slot fabric chassis (CRS-MC-FC24) provides the flexibility to order any number of fabric chassis and line-card chassis for the multichassis system. CRS-MC-FC24 provides hardware identical to CRS-1/M-F1. The CRS-16/S Conversion Kit for Multichassis (CRS-16-MC-CONV=) replaces the Cisco CRS-1 single-shelf system to multishelf system upgrade (CRS-16-MC-UPG). CRS-16-MC-CONV= provides all the components needed to make the CRS-16/S single-chassis multichassis capable or identical to a CRS-16-LCC/M=. The CRS-16-MC-UPG provides the conversion components plus the fabric chassis (CRS-FC24=). In order to get the fabric chassis components with the CRS-16-MC-CONV=, use the CRS-1 multichassis system with 24-slot fabric chassis (CRS-MC-FC24) to order one or more fabric chassis with additional line card chassis as needed. CRS-16-MC-CONV= with CRS-MC-FC24 provides identical hardware to the CRS-16-MC-UPG.
