Q. Are there DC power options for the Cisco
® 1100 Terminal Services Gateway (TSG)?
A. Yes. The 1100 TSG can be ordered with a built-in AC, DC, or HVDC power supply. Additionally, there is a 6-pin connector that can be used with the PWR-4320-AC power adapter for a secondary power source.
Q. Is Connectionless Network Service (CLNS) supported?
A. CLNS is not explicitly supported. However, CLNS configuration is permitted by the Command-Line Interface (CLI), and it will likely function at the same level as it does on the Cisco 4000 Series Integrated Services Routers.
Q. Are cellular connections supported?
A. Yes. Currently, the NIM-LTEA-LA and NIM-LTEA-EA are supported. These are Cat 6 LTE Advanced 3.0 devices. Future support is planned for the D-LTE series USB dongles.
Q. What is the maximum number of supported asynchronous ports?
A. By default, the 1100 TSG comes with 32 asynchronous ports. An additional 16 asynchronous ports can be added by including the C1100TG-16A daughtercard at ordering time. Even further, the Network Interface Module (NIM) slot supports the NIM-16A or the NIM-24A. So the maximum configuration is 32 + 16 + 24 for a total of 72 asynchronous ports.
Q. What is the minimum software version that supports the 1100 TSG?
A. Cisco IOS XE version 17.2 or later is required for the 1100 TSG.
Q. Which console cables are compatible with the 1100 TSG?
A. All supported asynchronous interfaces (built-in, daughtercard, and NIM based) require the use of the CAB-ASYNC-8 cable. This cable breaks out into eight male RJ45 connectors.
Q. Can the AUX port be used for dial-up modem access?
A. Yes. The Cisco IOS XE software supports the AUX port configured for serial access from a dial-up modem.
Q. What is the range of console speeds supported?
A. The 1100 TSG supports speeds from 300 bps to 230.4 Kbps.
Q. How are console ports numbered?
A. On the 1100 TSG, line 0 is for the console port and line 1 maps to the AUX port. The first asynchronous port is numbered 2. So the 32 built-in asynchronous ports are lines 2 to 33 for ports 0/1/0 to 0/1/31. The daughtercard ports are lines 34 to 49 and numbered 0/1/32 to 0/1/47. NIM asynchronous ports are lines 50 to 73 and are numbered 0/2/0 to 0/2/23.
Q. Is the 1100 TSG supported in the SD-WAN infrastructure?
A. At the initial release in Cisco IOS XE 17.2, the 1100 TSG is not supported by the SD-WAN infrastructure. Future support is under consideration.
Q. What is the depth of the 1100 TSG?
A. The 1100 TSG is 12 inches (30.5 cm) deep.
Q. Does Layer 2 switch traffic count against the 500-Mbps performance limit of the platform?
A. No. Only Layer 3 traffic that is routed from VLAN to VLAN or through one of the built-in WAN interfaces will count against the platform performance limit. Layer 2 switch traffic that stays on the same VLAN will not be rate-limited or count against the 500-Mbps platform limit.
Q. How many IPsec tunnels are supported?
A. The 1100 TSG supports up to 100 IPsec tunnels.
Q. Does the 1100 TSG support any Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express (CME) functionality?
A. No. The 1100 TSG does not support any of the voice NIMs, nor does it support any of the CME functionality.
