Creating a Cisco account

Go to Cisco and select the person icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page to begin. Select the "Sign up" link on the main login page to register and create a Cisco account.

  • Enter your email address, password (password requirements will check off as you meet them), first and last name, and choose your country.
  • Business email addresses are preferred to provide easier access to Cisco services, especially if your business has purchased them on your behalf.
  • Partners must use a business email address for their Cisco accounts.
  • Network Academy: Ignore this section. Follow the instructions in the invitation received in your email from Networking Academy.

Select register. An email with an activation code will be sent to verify your email address. The email content also provides links to popular Cisco sites.

  • If you don't receive an email from us within a few minutes, please check your spam or junk folders.
  • Add no-reply@cisco.com to your contact list and try to create a new account with the same email address.
  • If you still don't find the email, contact registration support.

Use the activation code to complete the registration and account creation process. After the account is successfully created you will be taken back to the login page.

Forgot password?

Select the "Forgot password?" link on 'Verify with your password' page.

  • If you have a mobile phone set up on the security tab of your profile, you will see both SMS (text message) and email options for resetting your password.
  • Otherwise, only "Reset via Email" is offered. Choosing email as a mode of resetting your password would prompt you to acknowledge a verification code sent to your email address. If MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) was setup with your account, you may have to acknowledge the MFA code after resetting the password. Steps are illustrated below.

Password reset by email

Assuming you had set MFA earlier you may be asked to enter the MFA code from your mobile before you can reset your password.

Password reset by SMS (text message)

Reset your password screen

Both the email and SMS methods of resetting password will prompt you to enter your new password and confirm the same.

Passwords are to be set with criteria as illustrated:

  • Includes 12-60 characters

  • Special character
  • Not your username
  • We cannot accept any of your last 8 passwords or a common password
  • At least 1 hour(s) must have elapsed since you last changed your password
  • Passwords may not contain any parts of your email address.
